Poem : Management

Oh Business, What a big Tree!

It has many branches, shinny green leaves hanging.

Marketing, Finance, Accounting, and here is Our Management.

What we know / What we learn

Decision Making

Decision Making, life it's time to do action

Organization

Organization, upside down model is new trend

Leadership

Leadership, I'm not a leadership type as test result.

Communication

Communication, talk! talk! talk! will get the answer

Communicating via Blog

[Communicating via Blog]

This was my first time doing a blog in my life. I know people do a blog for spreading their opinions or news. Somehow, I was not interested in at all.

Since I took this course, MGT3120, it was a mendatory assignment keeping blog as reflecting course respose.

It has pro and cons as every subject has. First time, blogging my opinion it was
little worried how other people thought about it or I did make myself clear.

Communicating via blog was successful as its intention. we had to read other classmate blog, and leave comment. It helped other people thought and ideas.

Especially,it provides a way to encourage classmates to think about the class activities. I could reach their reaction, and compared to my own opinions.

My suggestion, if blog activity is more related to class activity. Students are more
excited and interesting to write about it.

Vision of Life ; Dean J. Kim

Vision without action is just a dream.
Action without vision merely wastes time.
Vision coupled with action can make things happen!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those catch phrase are very strong and powerful as itself.
I think our professor and Video Author like to emphasize those slogan.

Anyway,I've been thinking a lot of my life goals since I came to U.S.A

Long story, but briefly I'd like to go Fashion Business School.
Right now, I'm studying at Baruch for International Marketing.
Sometimes, I'm afraid of being away from Fashion Industries because of My general
Business Field. I keep trying to track all the fashion news, trend, and issues by magazine or web source.

Next semaster,I'm going to find an intership program either J.crew or Classy American Men's fashion field which I'm very interested in these days.

I'd like to work in this field as Direction Direct or Trendy Guider; I'm not sure this field exist or not, I sorta created own term as my vision toward as Fashion people.

Back to my goal plan, I have to prepare photo polio shown my visions or directions.I'm also doing scarping clothings pictures.I can show what I can go direction in the future in fashion filed.

Under the I get in, I'm going to expand classy american sporty outfits to asian markets. these days, asian markets still are dominant by European Designers. Some of American designers are famous, but still people tend to buy European Designer clothes. Also, I want to use fully my advantage as bilingual ( korean and english).

My final goal in my career, open my clothing company aka Je.K Industry. I want to provide decent quality clothing in the U.S market. My specailty will be Swimsuit and Underwear so far. I know there are so many things to do catching up My Dream, but I will not give up yet!

Decision Making

After finishing my first exam, Prof said next class was most important lecture,so everyone must attend the class. I looked at the sylubus, and it was decision making chapter. when I attended the class,it was completely surprised, first of all about my poor score, and secondly our own decision making forward to second exam guild line.I never had this experience in the class. It was new and scarely tasks coz I'm quiet person in the class, also my native tounge was not english. I was afraid to speak up my opinions. Anyway, our mission was started, and guess what....it was sorta disaster. First of all everybody had opinions about their demands. Even though we had a leader, she was having a difficult time to control classmates. We wasted time mixed up guide line about exam questions and grade suggestions. I wish a leader or someone else indicated this seperation between exam questions and grade suggestions. It would save some time to finish our experimental jobs.

Next class, Prof talked about our desicion making activity. He suggested five models about "Conflicts". First one is [Compete to win]. It is assertiveness to get one’s own way. For example, some of students were very unpleasant when their suggestion didn't go through 100% agreement. They blamed some of classmates who against it. In addition, one of student kinda force people to raise hands for pass their suggestion like "shouting everybody raise hands. raise hand!!!!".

Second one is [Avoidance Withdrawal]. It used when there’s no chance of winning. This case is sorta beling to myself in class. when my suggestions didn't pass, I thought this wouldn't work at all. 100% agreement was impossible, and then I became a wachter or observer even though I participated in partly.

Next two models are [Compromise]& [Collaboratiing].I'm still comfused the difference between two subjects. I thought it was similar activities.Compromising used with decision making under pressure; all members are equal as prof lecture, and Collaborating reguries bargaining and negotiation among group. In my opinion, both activities tried to help among classmates come up with decision which make everyone happy and satisfied. If you have better examples, feel free to comments.

Last one is [Accommodation]. This is seeing issue as more important to others than self. Like sacrifising indivisiuals for people or group. In test result someone got 100 out of 100. He or She wasn't happy about this activies. What if I was the person who got highest score, I would agree or not class a desicion making? Generally, highest score won't hurt anything because it still reminds as highest score itself.

Briefly, one thing i really didn't like about this activities. when people talked about their opinions, some people still were speaking to friends or themselves. and then someone made a big noise like " Yeap". That was very unpleasant to way people to be quiet.

Cultural Variance between American and Korea

[Express youself vs. Cultivate my mind]

In Korean culture, we learn to being modest, and humble all the times. For instance, ripen rice is heading to down as korean proverb. It means humility is the important lesson in korean life style. even though you're very successful in your life, you don't show off your ablity for looking down other people. However, when you need to show your capablity, you do your job perfectly without being snoby or cocky.

Since I've lived in U.S.A for six years, I met many people who were very confident themselves. They were fully expressing themselves who they were. I have no problem meeting people who loves themselves more than anything. As my cultural background, I feel this is cultural difference between two countries.

[Respect Old People]

Another interesting concept is respecting old people in korean culture. we do use the honorific for old people. When i learned in english, everyone use you as second person. In korea, we do distinguish honorific between people. Another example, we learned give up your seat for old people or diablities all the time in the bus, train, subway anywhere in public space. It's very common culture in Korea.
